Rising Up for Domestic Peace
MISSION
DAWN -501 (c)(3) nonprofit- supports, empowers and shelters survivors of domestic abuse in South King County and helps to keep us all safe by educating our community to respond to and prevent violence.
VISION
We envision a community that commits to the belief that violence is preventable and takes shared responsibility and united action to create a more peaceful place to live for us all.
What is Domestic Violence?
We define domestic violence as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, terrorize, coerce, threaten, blame, hurt, injure, or wound someone.
