DAWN is more than just a name. It is inherent in our philosophy of bringing the subject of domestic violence out of the darkness and into the light by raising awareness and facilitating action in our community. We are leaders, conveners and partners in bringing people together to develop and implement solutions to violence that may begin in the home but whose tentacles can reach into all facets of community life.
Community Education.
Domestic Violence Institute.
DAWN’s Domestic Violence Institute offers training aimed at providing professionals, volunteers and community partners with the information they need to advocate for survivors of domestic violence. Guided by principles of trauma-informed advocacy, each session offers content and skills-based curriculum so we can all reduce violence in our community. DAWN’s Domestic Violence Institute meets Washington state requirements for domestic violence advocates’ continuing education.
Community Training
DAWN trains businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to recognize and safely and effectively intervene to prevent interpersonal violence whenever and wherever it is spotted. DAWN is available to work with community leaders, social clubs, employers, employees, and others on the techniques and how to enlist individuals in nurturing more peaceful communities.
